After a month of hiatus and forgetting Dapur Saraswati’s Instagram password, I am taking my time to find a ground that anchors me. Like my annual ritual in the past 4 years, I’ve moved again to another place. There were times when the reason behind this was immigration policy and the high cost of immigrating. But this time, the reason is easy - a sojourn. This, the transition between here and there, and paperwork are a few reasons why I decided to take a break; others are the good news I’d like to share.
First, my abstract is selected for 2022 International Forum on Spice Route. With a tight deadline, because I was just gambling my luck when I submitted the abstract, I’m short in time to write a 5.000 words essay and the research that follows.
Second, I am now volunteering as Indonesian Editor or Editor Bahasa Indonesia for The Archipelago, home to new writings and artworks between Indonesia, Somalia, Afghanistan, and other islands. The Archipelago is based in Indonesia, established by refugees and activists. The Archipelago is now open to Indonesian writers and artists, so we’re accepting writings, illustrations, and photos by Indonesians and the Indonesian diaspora. We accept writings in Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia), which we will translate to English and publish on our website. For further information and submitting, click here.
For now, I’ll see you again in October for the second anniversary of Dapur Saraswati!
With warmth,
Prinka Saraswati
